History of the Firm Margáin & Asociados.

Founded by C.P. Guillermo Margáin González in 1955 at the request of the Tequila producers and the incipient Chamber of the Tequila Industry, with the intention of supporting the industry in all legal and administrative procedures, mainly before the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit ( SHCP), where they constantly had problems with the payment of the alcohol tax.
Margain y asociados became a key piece to resolve and ensure the interests of the Tequila Industry.
From then until now, our firm Margain y asociados offers regulatory and tax management services for the Tequila Industry, as well as Industrial Property advice.
Our Founder
Mr. Guillermo Margáin González was a Public Accountant graduated from the National Polytechnic Institute. In 1938 he began his career at the Ministry of Finance (SHCP) until obtaining the Head of the Stamp Department, the instance where taxes were paid in those years.
From 1955 to 1980, Mr. Guillermo Margáin González served as a member of the SHCP's Alcohol Qualifying Technical Board, where special taxes were determined for the sugar, alcohol, brandy and alcoholic beverage bottling industries. For 25 years, the interests of all manufacturers of alcoholic beverages were protected, until the repeal of the alcohol law and the publication of the special tax law on production and services in 1980.
He received the title of Lawyer Honoris Causa from the Escuela Libre de Derecho, as well as several awards and recognitions for his contributions in legal and tax matters.
He inherited the office from his son, Mr. Luis Ernesto Margáin Sainz and Don Guillermo died in 1990 at the age of 85, retired in the city of Mérida, Yucatán.
